Baby of the Month – Key Stats
Almost all Mums, and Mums-to-be across the UK are aware of Baby of the Month and the opportunities the competition brings to them
You may use the competition, which has a £5000 annual winner and 5 x £50 Boots vouchers each month, in all your own social media marketing
It is by far the UK’s most popular Baby Photography Facebook page (more popular even than Tesco Baby of the Month) with 115,000+ followers!
By taking Emma’s Diary data, you will receive the exclusive rights in your area to become the recognised Baby of the Month photographer.
Each client entering pays £1.50 which is donated to the Tusk Wildlife Charity which care for orphaned elephants and wildlife in Africa
Each image entered features your studio name and all the Mum’s friends and family can vote, giving your studio enormous free publicity

Regular Prizes
In each monthly competition, 5 winners will each receive a £50 Boots voucher and a winners certificate. Studios also receive a winners certificate and Top-10 Finalists get one too.

Highlighting your studio
Every image you enter is watermarked with your studio name, increasing the chances of your photography being shared nationally and locally too
What is the Entry Criteria?
- Babies must be aged between 0 – 12 months when their session and viewing take place in order to enter the competition
- Images to be of the baby only, with no siblings or parents included (unless holding baby on their shoulder)
- Images of twins and/or triplets are acceptable but if successful, only one prize will be awarded
- Images must be shot in black and white or sepia, colour images are not accepted in the competition
- Props are acceptable, but must not take over from the focus of the featured baby
- Images can be entered from non-Emma’s Diary sessions
- In the event customers attend three sessions during the baby’s first year, they have the opportunity to enter one new image from each new session
- Images that include more than one baby (ie. twins /triplets) are acceptable but if successful, only one prize will be awarded
- Props are acceptable but must not take over from the focus of the featured baby
What is the Entry Process?
- The client attends a photography session
- Client returns for a viewing appointment
- Photographer asks the client to select one image for competition entry
- Photographer asks the client to complete the Baby of the Month Model Release Form which provides permission to use the image on the competition page on our website and also on social media.
- Using their unique username and password, each photographer uploads their images to: https://www.barrettandcoe.co.uk/bc-polls/
- Each photographer will be prompted to provide the following information relating to the image:
– Name of Parent/Guardian
– Name of Baby/Babies
– Baby gender
– Client Contact Number
– Client Email Address
– Client Address

How can I start entering?

Can I use the logo?
The Baby of the Month logo can be downloaded above as an Ai/Jpeg file and used in your own marketing.
Promoting the competition
Following recent changes to the competition, we have revised the artwork for an information leaflet and poster which can be used by your studio.
The leaflet can be emailed to clients ahead of their session, or printed and handed to clients at their viewing. The poster can also be printed and displayed in your studio.

Frequently Asked Questions
I would like to enter the competition but I do not have access?
Please email enquire@barrettandcoe.co.uk so we can send you a username and password to start uploading images
Do I need to request permission from my client?
Yes, all images entered into the competition MUST have a signed Model Release form completed. Please keep this form for future reference to ensure permission was granted.
Where can I upload images?

Are my clients informed when each competition goes live?
Yes. An email and SMS message are sent on the opening day of a competition.
Regular reminders to encourage voting are posted on the Facebook page throughout a competition month.
How are the winners chosen?
The winning image for each competition be decided using the following judging panels:
- Top-10 images chosen via the Public Vote
- Top-10 images chosen via a panel of Mums
- Top-10 images chosen via a panel of Photographers
- Top-10 images chosen via a panel of Sponsors
The top-5 winning images from each competition will receive a Boots voucher and winners certificate featuring the image and name. The winning studio will also receive a certificate. Photographers will be asked to supply a presentation image of the certificate being handed to their client.

Is there an entry fee for clients?
Each entry is subject to a £1.50 donation to the Tusk which is taken during your clients viewing.
When does each competition go live?
We run a month behind in order to give each baby the same amount of exposure on the site and so voting begins around the 1st / 2nd of each month. For example, images taken during February will be ready to vote on during the first week of March.
I am having trouble uploading my client’s image

If the client has twins/triplets can I send one image of each child?
Yes, but there will be a £1.50 charge for each image entered.
Alternatively, if the client wishes to have one photo that shows all of their children, this is also acceptable.
My client wants their image to be in colour
All images in the competition are displayed in black and white or sepia. This has been a hallmark of the competition, and we do not allow colour images to be entered into the competition.
My client does not want to enter the competition
That’s fine, it is not compulsory to enter if a client does not wish to be part of the competition.
